MG Hector, in partnership with Bharat Petroleum, recently showcased the tech, That will let you make payments directly from your car, eliminating the need for a smartphone or other handheld devices.
WHAT IS TONE TAG?
The company’s website says it is the world’s largest audio-based solutions provider. The company offers both software and hardware to enable various services. The company was founded by Kumar Abhishek and Vivek K Singh in 2013.
ToneTag was also the first company to enable contactless payment acceptance on point-of-sale machines using sound.
HOW WILL PAY BY CAR WORK?
The new ‘pay by car’ feature is an easy-to-use feature where users simply have to link their UPI ID with their car’s infotainment screen. When you drive up to a fuel station, your car’s infotainment system displays the fuel dispenser number. Simultaneously, a soundbox within your car announces your arrival, alerting the attentive staff at the fuel station. You then proceed to enter the desired amount for your fuel purchase, which is conveniently announced through the same soundbox. This straightforward process results in a secure and contactless transaction, enhancing both convenience and safety.
‘Pay by car’ also offers the ability to recharge your car’s Fastag. The current balance displayed on the infotainment screen provides a comprehensive solution for your vehicle-related payments.
At the Global Fintech Fest, ToneTag also unveiled conversational payments on UPI in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), enabling bill payments over a phone conversation.
ToneTag’s journey towards this innovation traces back to its successful execution of developing an offline voice-based payment system for any phone within the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) sandbox. The primary goal was to empower individuals who may struggle with app-based payments or digital literacy, ensuring that everyone can participate in the digital economy.
